Whatever decision the U.S. Supreme Court hands down on Thursday regarding the Affordable Care Act, the American Medical Association says it will continue to lobby lawmakers on behalf of the poor and uninsured.

Illinois Health Insurance Exchange Possible

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn may use an executive order to establish a health insurance exchange in his state. Quinn adviser Michael Gelder looming federal deadlines leave Quinn two choices: calling a special session or issuing an executive order. Illinois Republicans say an executive order would be inappropriate, especially before the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. Only New York and Rhode Island have previously established exchanges by executive order.

We may resign Afghanistan to a sort of purgatory status. It's not great...not that bad either...kind of so-so. 

NPR reports President Obama paid a surprise visit to Afghanistan, and he says having just part of the country out of Taliban hands might be the best we can do.

A new poll shows Kentuckians are becoming increasingly aware of the commonwealth's health issues and willing to act on them.

The Kentucky Health Issues Poll is conducted annually by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. The latest poll for last year was just released this week and found many Kentuckians worry about childhood obesity and depression.
