Ky. Center for Economic Policy Report: 'Worst Outlook in Recent Memory'

A survey of Kentucky's economy says lawmakers have a choice between reinvesting in services or making more cuts to government.

The report released Thursday from the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy says $250 million in additional revenue won’t be enough to meet the state’s most pressing needs.

New U.S. 641 Alignment Selected for Ky. Counties

Based on public input, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has selected a new route for U.S. 641 from Fredonia to U.S. 62 at Eddyville.

The route will skirt the east edge of Fredonia, where it will then follow an abandoned rail line to the Caldwell-Lyon county line.  It will briefly follow the existing roadway before routing along property lines and existing state-owned property to reach U.S. 62 near the I-69 interchange east of Eddyville.

Beshear Says Education Is Top Priority for Session

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear says he wants to pump more money into education and is willing to make budget cuts elsewhere to free up the money.

Beshear talked to reporters at the Capitol on Tuesday about his priorities for the upcoming legislative session. The governor says education is his top priority and that the state risks losing its progress in education unless it reinvests money in schools.
