Forrester Isn't Running for Tenn. Democratic Party Chairman

Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester says he won't seek a third term as state party head. Spokesman Brandon Puttbrese confirmed Forrester’s decision to stay out of the race today. Since Forrester became chairman in 2009, the Democratic Party has lost 14 state house seats, three in the U.S. Congress and the governorship.

51,000 Kentucky Voters Have Cast Absentee Ballots

More than 51,000 Kentucky voters have cast absentee ballots ahead of the Nov. 6 election. Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says that's on par with the count two weeks ahead of the 2008 election. In Kentucky, voters who are out of town or otherwise unable to get to the polls on Election Day can vote early by absentee ballots. Besides the presidential race, Kentucky has a competitive congressional race in central Kentucky. Voters are also choosing a Supreme Court justice from eastern Kentucky and state legislators across the state.
