Host John Hockenberry, along with the The New York Times and WGBH Boston, invites listeners every morning to learn more and be part of the American conversation on-air and online at thetakeaway.org. The Takeaway is a unique partnership of global news leaders. It is a co-production of PRI (Public Radio International) and WNYC Radio in collaboration with The New York Times and WGBH Boston. The program airs live on the east coast in the morning, and is updated for national distribution in the afternoon.

WKMS celebrates Black History Month with a unique collection of vignettes during Sounds Good all month long, a limited-run series on the life and music of Duke Ellington and special programming covering "Race and Fear" in America, the Civil Rights movement from Seneca Falls to Selma to Stonewall, and a special report following three African American women coping with breast cancer.
