The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Murray State Graduation Day will Include a University First

This Saturday (May 10) is graduation day at Murray State, and will include the first five doctoral degrees to be awarded in the university's 92 year history. Commencement begins at 10 a.m. and can be streamed live at Murray State's website. Murray State Associate Provost Renae Duncan visits Sounds Good with all the details.

From Drawing to Metalsmithing, Murray State's Summer Art Workshop

Murray State Summer Art Workshop

Nicole Hand directs the Murray State Summer Art Workshop that is for freshman-seniors, June 8-13. The workshop has been going since the 1980's and this is Dale Leys 30th year teaching drawing in the workshop. Nicole and her husband Jim Bryant also run a website called Murray Kid, as well as a Facebook page of children's events activities in the Murray area. The Kentucky chapter of Amnesty International is holding training and advisement seminars across Kentucky, to coordinate grassroots efforts addressing human rights issues locally, nationally and abroad. Downtown Saturday Market Opens This Month in Murray

Murray Share A Seed Program Gives Trees to Park and Community Members

Mike Gowen explains how, in its tenth year, the Murray Share A Seed Program has received a grant from National Wildlife Federation for 150 native trees. Fifty trees will be planted throughout Murray community parks and another one-hundred will be given away to community members who come to the park on Friday, May 2 between 9 am and Noon. MES will also be donating seedlings to the Murray Art Guild for their Needline garden in back of the Guild. Local Rotaries Offer Ways to Help Arkansas Tornado Recovery Efforts

Murray Rotarian Keith Travis offers a direct avenue for assisting post-tornadic restoration of normalcy or close to it for those who lost their homes or livelihoods in Little Rock, Arkansas earlier this week. Little Rock's Rotary Club 99 is going to be the local fiduciary for donations. Rotary clubs throughout the Purchase are providing collection points for checks and cash.
