About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

New Cookbook Simplifies Indian Cooking

Raghavan Iyer arrived in the United States in 1982 with a tin of Curry Powder and a bottle of red pepper flakes. These spices helped the day-to-day cooking in the dorm kitchen of his college to remind him of home. Experimenting with what he could find in a mainstream grocery store, Iyer learned to create the complexity of the Indian flavors he craved. And he grew a respected career in teaching others how to cook this way. Workman Publishing, New York, has published Chef Iyer's Indian Cooking Unfolded, A Master Class in Indian Cooking with 100 Easy Recipes Using 10 Ingredients or Less. Kate Lochte has more with Chef Raghavan Iyer.

The Nina & The Pinta Sail into Green Turtle Bay

Credit Green Turtle Bay Resort, Facebook

The Nina & The Pinta first mate Stephen Sanger tells Kate Lochte on Sounds Good what it’s like to sail a ship like Christopher Columbus did in advance of the ships docking for visitation at Green Turtle Bay Marina August 29 through September 8. The ships are true replicas of the originals that sailed the ocean blue in 1492. All are invited to visit the "sailing museums" for a walk-aboard, self-guided tour. Sanger also tells Kate why these ships are actually a little bit better to sleep on than the originals. See more about the event at Green Turtle Bay's Facebook page.
