The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Dawson Springs Mayor on Becoming Kentucky's First "Trail Town"

Kate Lochte visit with Dawson Springs Mayor Jenny Sewell on Sounds Good to learn more about the road, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and blueway trails earning the community the Kentucky Trail Town designation. Kentucky First Lady Jane Beshear designated Dawson Springs as the state's first "Trail Town" as part of an effort to promote and develop adventure tourism opportunities across the Commonwealth. The city is developing several outdoor attractions including Pennyrile State Resort Park and State Forest, Tradewater River and Wildlife Management Area, and the Jones-Keeney Wildlife Management Area. Retired cardiologist and current director of outreach for Baptist Health Paducah, Dr. Patrick Withrow joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good with information about the 7th Annual Addiction and Compulsive Behavior Symposium on Saturday, October 26, at the hospital, including the manager of Kentucky's KASPER drug reporting system. 'Test Drive a Racer' MSU Internship Initiative

Murray State's Jones College of Science, Engineering & Technology Dean Dr. Steve Cobb joins Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to chat about the new half-million dollar project 'Test Drive A Racer,' supported by a grant form the James Graham Brown Foundation. This program grew out of a request for funding from a philanthropic organization. Dr. Cobb says students benefit from the opportunity to have internships before graduation in professionally meaningful environments. This program will help fund internship programs. He says The foundation is interested in looking at projects that benefit the higher education institutions in the state and economic vitality in the state.

50 Years Later: September Mourn, The Sixteenth Street Baptist Church Bombing

50 years ago this Sunday, an explosion at an African-American church in Birmingham, Alabama killed four little girls in an act of racially motivated terrorism, marking a turning point in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. Commentator and Murray State History Professor Dr. Brian Clardy reflects on this tragic moment, and its historical significance in contributing to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Kentucky Historical Society Honors Marshall Co. Education Pioneer

The Kentucky Historical Society dedicates an historical marker honoring Marshall County education pioneer Henry H. Lovett Sr. Monday, September 16. Kate Lochte speaks with Becky Riddle of KHS about Mr. Lovett. Lovett was elected head of the Benton schools in 1905, helped establish Benton High School as the first high school in Marshall County. Discovery Park of America Exhibit Designer Takes Us Through the New Union City Museum

Based in New York City, Thinc Design is an exhibition design firm that has created museum experiences around the world. It's originator, Tom Hennes, says the Discovery Park of America in Union City, inspired by the philanthropy of retired businessman Robert Kirkland, is full of fascinating exhibits. These exhibits, he says, are inspired by the community of Union City. We've met the Boston-based architect Louis Siriani who designed the building. We meet Tom Hennes with Kate Lochte, as we continue our coverage of this remarkable new tourism feature in our region.
