The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

ROMP Music Fest Returns to Owensboro

Punch Brothers

On Sounds Good, Tracy Ross welcomes ROMP Team member Chris Langdon of the International Bluegrass Music Museum to talk about this year's music festival. Be listening for the fabulous music lineup including The Punch Brothers, Merle Haggard,  Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, Carolina Chocolate Drops, and many others, at ROMP next Wednesday through Saturday in Owensboro’s Yellow Springs Park. Three New One-Act Plays at Kenlake Twilight Theatre this Summer

A vacation highlight of our region is Twilight Theatre Productions' summer season at Kenlake State Resort Park. It opens this Friday night and features dinner and three new one-act plays by New Yorker Charles Messina, original works performed in professional production. There are Friday and Saturday night shows through August 2. Shirley T. Johnson is the sparkplug behind Twilight Theatre Productions. Her director is actor Charles Edward Hall, whose career started with Mrs Johnson and her husband Robert E. Johnson, for whom the theatre at Murray State University is named. Kate Lochte speaks with Charles Edward Hall.

A Preview of Murray's Freedom Fest 2013

Murray Tourism and Convention Center’s Executive Director Erin Carrico previews Murray’s Freedom Fest with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good. Freedom Fest kicks of Friday, June 28 with a street fair featuring vendors and a free outdoor concert by Matty McRee and Clarence Dobbins. Last week, several children from across the region, between the ages of 8 and 12, came to the campus of Murray State University for the annual Young Authors Camp. These young authors practiced writing for fun in a variety of styles from poetry to fictional stories, skits, and more, under the direction of classroom instructors. Yeiser Art Center Director Josh White speaks with Tracy Ross about The Paducah Summer Festival Photo Competition which has grown from a fledgling contest to Paducah Photo, the region's most prestigious annual photographic event. The show is on display this Saturday through August 3. According to the Yeiser website, the competition provides photographers with an outlet for their art, encouragement for growth in their vision and presentation and cash rewards for works of exceptional merit. Locally Produced Horror Film 'Lucid' Premieres in Madisonville

Tracy Ross speaks with PJ Woodside of Big Biting Pig Productions, announcing the world-premiere of Lucid, a new nightmare of a film that Woodside wrote and directed, opening Friday, June 21 at Madisonville’s Ballard Convention Center. Their seventh film features Bill "Leatherface" Johnson from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and tells the story of a woman with increasingly disturbing and violent dreams seeking help from a sleep therapist known for his controversial treatments. Her experience plummets her into the dark depths of her subconscious, grasping for sanity.
