Sounds Good

About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

How to Judge A Country Ham

Credit Trigg County Ham Festival, Facebook

Kate Lochte speaks with Dr. Gregg Rentfrow of the UK Extension Faculty about how to judge country hams. The 37th Annual Trigg County Country Ham Festival takes place this weekend and many people are bringing hams for judging. Dr. Rentfrow talks about the criteria: confirmation, which is the overall shape of the ham, how plump it is, and whether it has a pleasing shape - like a classic teardrop; workmanship, the ability to clean the ham up - extra curing, mold (yes, mold! he explains this), etc.; and color and aroma! See more about the Trigg County Country Ham Festival on Facebook.

Puppies Sound Good: Meet Calloway

Today we met Calloway, this month's featured adoptable puppy at the Humane Society of Calloway County. Calloway is a retriever/husky mix who needs a loving home. She was very sweet and sleepy at WKMS, and a little shy making her radio debut. She's seven weeks old and is one of a litter of six. She'll be a medium to large size dog when she's fully grown. See more information about her on Petfinder.com (where she's listed as a boy!).

See more at the Humane Society of Calloway County website.
