About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Paducah Photographer Raises Money for Asian Carp Documentary

During Sounds Good today, we met Paducah photographer Glenn Hall who has launched an Indiegogo Campaign to raise money to assist in night filming a documentary about the invasion of Asian carp in area waters, a project Hall's been working on since the floods of 2011. MSU and Calloway Co. HS Participate in Japanese Youth Exchange

Murray State hosts 25 Kobe Gakuin students with the Youth Exchange Kakehashi Project, called 'The Bridge for Tomorrow,' through Saturday (November 9). Murray State students participated in the same program and visited Japan for 10 days as one of the seven representative US Universities accepted in the exchange this May. Calloway County High School Students also participated in a trip. Murray State Senior Lecturer of Japanese Yoko Hatakeyama speaks with Kate Lochte about how this opportunity evolved for the students.

Join 'One World Run' for Project AIDS Orphan

On Saturday, November 23, at 9 am, runners from Paducah will join runners from around the world for the 6th Annual Project AIDS Orphan One World Run. No matter from they hail, everybody running in this 5K and Youth Run, come out for a singular purpose, to assist children in Kenya, home to more than 1 million children orphaned by AIDS. Tracy Ross speaks with Todd Anderson and Paul Bilak of Project AIDS Orphan about the event.

Shrek Run Extended at Playhouse in the Park

Murray Playhouse in the Park's performance of "Shrek The Musical" extends its run due to sold out houses for the last few weeks. On Sounds Good, Tracy learns more from P;layhouse Director Lisa Cope and Jake Hunter, who plays Lord Farquaad in the show. The musical comedy now runs Saturday November 9 at 7 pm and Sunday, November 10 at 2:30 pm. See ticket information, here.

MSU Wind Ensemble President's Concert

Tomorrow night's (Tuesday, November 5) President's Concert at Murray State University's Lovett Auditorium features the MSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble performing three compositions written to challenge the student musicians and delight listeners. Director of University Bands Dennis Johnson conducts. He speaks with Kate Lochte about the lively program, which is free and open to all.

It begins at 7:30 pm in Lovett Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble has a national and international reputation due to its touring schedule, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

Lion's Club and WPSD Hosts Telethon for Disabled Children & Adults

St. Paul Lutheran Paducah Pastor Corey Aker is spreading the word about the 57th Lion's Club/WPSD Telethon, raising dollars for centers working with children and adults with developmental disabilities in our region. Kate Lochte speaks with Aker on Sounds Good about this weekend's event at the Carson Center. The beneficiaries are regional health centers.

WKMS and the middle school kids of Calloway County Public Library bring to you an original story of terror and suspense, of a dreadful monster that turns one slumber party into a nightmarish evening of fear and chaos, that twists the imagination toward the realm of the unknown, and a night none are sure to forget until their dying day.
