Sounds Good

About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Puppies Sound Good: Meet Max and Sweet Pea

Max (left) and Sweet Pea (right), brother and sister

Puppies! Our favorite day of the month at WKMS. This time we met two seven-week-old puppies, Max and Sweet Pea, up for adoption. Max is black and Sweet Pea has brown and black coloring (kind of like a German Shepherd). These puppies are mixed-breed with features from a few different breeds. Also, they came from a litter of 15! Max and Sweet Pea were very adorable and sweet. You'll hear Max throughout the interview, watching his sister being playful. What could he be saying?

Kentucky's Contribution in the War of 1812 topic for MCLIB Presentation Thursday

Credit mclib.net

The “Raisin”—short for the River Raisin that runs by the site—was the first national battlefield park devoted to the War of 1812. And it’s no Gettysburg, but rather a small patch of “brownfield” - ground contaminated by industry - south of Detroit. Thursday at 7 p.m. the McCracken County Public Library hosts author and historian Eddie Price for its Evenings Upstairs program - titled "Remember The Raisin!" Kentucky's Contribution in the War of 1812. Mr. Price joins Kate Lochte for a preview.
