About The Show

The music on Sounds Good is a mix of legacy artists who are still making great music now (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bonnie Raitt) deep cuts from classic artists (The Band, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, REM) great contemporary artists who don' t receive commercial airplay (Neko Case, Wilco, Jack White, Darrell Scott, The Black Keys) and those who defy the boundaries of categorization (Punch Brothers, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Bill Frisell, Justin Townes Earle). You'll also get a bit of World music, Blues, Soul/R&B, Reggae and Jazz.

Additionally, you'll hear interviews with newsmakers and community leaders, live music from some of our region's best musicians, our community events calendar and more.

Holiday Activities in Historic Golconda

Pope County's Gail Barger Lannom visits with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good to talk about special holiday tours of four homes, an historic church, and the Davidson Cabin decorated for the holidays as well as Golconda festivities including the Courthouse lawn bonfire. We'll also learn about a documentary she's produced about Pope County, 1797 to 1937.

Update: The WKCTC Community Chorus is canceled for Sunday, December 8. The Art Sale may open at some point during the week.

The Paducah School of Art & Design have postponed their art sale until next weekend due to inclement weather. Their annual Student and Faculty sale showcases work done in the program, with a small portion of the sale benefiting the school.

Kate Lochte speaks with Paul Aho, Dean of the Paducah School of Art & Design about the activities.

Benton Main Street Welcomes Christmas with Dickens' Celebration

Benton Main Street Board Member Elayna Blevins is our Dickens' Christmas Celebration correspondent during Sounds Good.  The Saturday, December 14th celebration features a sweet shoppe, bakery, ye olde pub, a pig roast, live nativity scene, children's games, and a lighted Christmas Parade. MSU College of Business Presents Conference on "The Future of West Kentucky"

MSU's Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business presents an economic development conference next Tuesday, December 10 in the Curris Center. The College's dean, Dr. Tim Todd, visits Kate Lochte on Sounds Good with more information about the day long focus on "The Future of West Kentucky," including a keynote address by Kentucky Lt. Governor Jerry Abramson.

Clinton Celebrates Heritage in 9th Annual Arts, Crafts & Book Fair

LowerTown Artist Exhibits 30 Years of Quilting

LowerTown's Caryl Bryer Fallert celebrates 30 years of making innovative quilts by creating 30 new works for the exhibit opening with a reception this Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the National Quilt Museum.  We meet the artist during Sounds Good. Her exhibit is titled "Thirty Quilts for Thirty Years" and includes thirty luminous art quilts created just for this exhibit by the Elgin, Illinois native and LowerTown resident.

Humane Society of Calloway County Publishes 2014 Pet Calendar

Tom Rottinghaus of the Humane Society of Calloway County stops by Sounds Good to show us a new, full-color calendar of pets from the area, now on sale at Animal Health & Wellness, Bark Avenue, Family Fitness Center, Little Shop of Collars, Precious Paws, Lee Jewelry Artisans, Warner Veterinary Clinic, Westside Veterinary Service, and the Humane Society office. The calendars are a $10 donation to the Society. Tom also talks about some of the items in the 5th Annual Online Auction, featuring hand-crafted items, jewelry, home decor, gift certificates and more. St. Nicholas Family Clinic Seeks Volunteers for Furniture Haul

St. Nicholas Family Clinic needs volunteers to move furniture that's no longer needed to Hope Unlimited in Paducah this Saturday. Kate Lochte learns more about the volunteer opportunity and St. Nicholas Clinic activities with Rayla Bridges, on Sounds Good. The clinic's  mission is to provide quality healthcare to working individuals who do not have medical insurance or financial resources necessary to pay for private insurance and/or medical care. Kris Kringle Takes the Stage in Playhouse's "Miracle on 34th St."

Playhouse in the Park Director Lisa Cope visits our studio during Sounds Good with actors Doug Mullins (Kris Kringle) and Marci Jo Gardner-Evans (Doris Walker) for a preview of Miracle on 34th Street. The play opens this Friday (December 6) for a two-week run. Based on the 1947 film, the play focuses on the impact of a department store Santa Claus who claims to be the real Santa. Lisa also talks about auditions for Playhouse's 2014 production of Monty Python's Spamalot. See more at playhouseinthepark.net.
