Yarmuth Predicts HC Bill Won't Clear

By Rick Howlett/ Paco Long-Mendez

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville predicts that a final health care overhaul bill won't clear congress until early next year. The Louisville democrat said Monday he expects the senate to pass its own health care measure before the end of the year, but the two versions won't be reconciled until after the holidays.
"We think they're about 85 percent similar right now. And even though that fifteen percent
represents some significant issues, we think we can get it done in a way where a
conference won't be impossible."
Yarmuth says the biggest point of contention between the House and Senate legislation is funding. President Obama has been pressing congress to pass a final plan before the end of the year.
