WKMS celebrates John Lennon's birthday on several locally-produced shows Saturday

Murray, Ky – WKMS celebrates the birthday of the late John Lennon by featuring his music on Music from the Front Porch, Rough Mix, and Beyond the Edge this Saturday. Lennon would have been 70 years old. The Beatles founder collaborated with Paul McCartney to form one of the most prolific and successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. As performer, writer, or co-writer Lennon is responsible for 27 number one singles in the United States.
On Saturday's Music From the Front Porch John McMillen offers Del McCoury, Vassar Clemens, Alison Krauss, Gene Wooten, Tony Furtado, New Grass Revival and Johnny Cash covers of Lennon tunes during his 11 a.m. music rotation. Music from the Front Porch regularly airs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Bryan and Jen Bartlett present Rough Mix Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. and this Saturday's second hour is dedicated to John Lennon, from his early days with the Beatles through his solo years culminating with the release of the album Double Fantasy just before his death.
Beyond the Edge host Tracy Ross features favorite Lennon/Beatles songs during the second hour of his 8 to 11 p.m. program. Enjoy "Imagine," "Watching The Wheels," "A Day In The Life," "Strawberry Fields Forever," and many others.
