WKMS Celebrates with Company for the Holidays

Murray State’s NPR station, 91.3 WKMS-FM, continues Company for the Holidays, the annual series of special music and storytelling programs for public radio enthusiasts during the holiday season. The special series continues through New Year's Day 2013 and includes over 40 hours of special holiday radio features. There are two features airing the second week of December.

On Monday, December 10, hear Chanukah in Story and Song at Noon. Narrated by actor Leonard Nimoy, Chanukah in Story and Song is an engaging program of Chanukah stories that shed light on the holiday's customs and rituals. Musical selections include Ladino songs of the Spanish Jews, Yiddish melodies of Eastern Europe and modern Israeli tunes performed by The Western Wind. Chanukah in Story and Song is sponsored in part by Ashland of Calvert City.

Last year’s Retro Cocktail Hour Christmas Party was such a festive program that it gets a second airing this season. Listeners will enjoy two-hours of crooner classics and swinging bachelor pad tunes on Wednesday, December 13, at 7 p.m. preempting World Café.The ultra-jazzy party features Nat King Cole, Blue Hawaiians, and other unique artists. The Retro Cocktail Hour Christmas Party 2011 is sponsored in part by Eddy Grove Vineyard of Princeton.  

WKMS presents annual holiday specials with the support of contributing listeners as well as businesses and organizations that assist the station through underwriting.

WKMS broadcasts to over 20,000 listeners weekly in western Kentucky, southernmost Illinois and northwestern Tennessee. The station's public media services include 91.3 WKMS-FM, Murray; WKMS HD-1 and All-Music HD-2; 90.9 WKMD and WKMD HD-1 and HD-2, Madisonville; 89.5 WKMT, Fulton; 99.5 Paris, Tenn., and All-Music 92.5 Paducah and 105.1 Madisonville. The station also offers both channels WKMS HD-1 and HD-2 at wkms.org, where regular weekly schedules of programs are available.
