WKCTC, Paducah law enforcement and Paducah-McCracken County NAACP are among local groups hosting ‘Know Your Rights and Responsibilities’ forums.

The forums are part of the school’s 2016 Diversity and Inclusion series. WKCTC Vice President of Student Development Dr. Belinda Dalton-Russell says panels will discuss employment laws, civil rights, proper procedure during traffic stops and other police-related topics. She says social issues are becoming more prominent and citizens should be aware of  their rights.

“So basically it’s to give outreach to the community so that they can know where they social and community resources are and what to do if they get into certain situations,” says Dalton-Russell.

Dalton-Russell says the goal of the series is to teach students to learn and work in a global society while promoting respect and appreciation for differences. Forums are September 27 and 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. in WKCTC’s Emerging Technology Center.
