Wine Sales Approved for Hundreds of Tennessee Grocery Stores

publicdomainpictures.net

Tennessee’s Alcoholic Beverage Commission says more than half of the state’s grocery stores have received a license to sell wine under a new state liquor law.

ABC executive director Clay Byrd says the approved list of retailers includes 72 Kroger stores, 104 Wal-Mart stores and 16 Sam’s Clubs.

Lawmakers approved the wine-in grocery stores legation in 2014.

Since January, the ABC has received 499 applications and had issued 398 conditional letters of approval allowing stores to stock wine, but not sell it until the law takes effect July 1st.
