Williams Kicks Off Statewide Bus Tour

By Associated Press

Frankfort, KY – Republican gubernatorial candidate David Williams is kicking off a statewide bus tour in Kentucky's largest city. Williams and his running mate, Richie Farmer, will promote their jobs plan during the tour that begins Monday morning in Louisville. The Republican slate will crisscross the state this week with stops planned in cities and small towns as the campaign heads into its final two weeks. Williams, who is the state Senate president, is challenging Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear in next month's election. Stressing the jobs theme comes after last week's report that Kentucky's unemployment rate rose to 9.7 percent in September, up from the 9.5 percent rate in August. Job losses in several sectors including government led to the higher jobless rate.
