Wells Wins Against Seargent

By Angela Hatton

Murray, KY – The non-partisan race for Murray's next mayor went to Bill Wells last night. Wells beat out opponent Butch Seargent with 52 percent of the vote. That's according to unofficial results from the Calloway County Clerk's office. Wells says he hopes to carry on the good work that past mayors have done. He says he'll seek input from the city council before announcing any new policies or plans. Both Wells and Seargent served on the city council before seeking the Murray mayor position. Wells replaces interim Mayor Danny Hudspeth, who chose not to run.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
