Weather Channel Seeks Tornado Footage

NOAA, wikipedia.org

Producers from the Weather Channel are asking for help in gathering video of the tornadoes that ravaged Kentucky and Indiana on March 2nd, 2012.

The footage could be used in two programs in the channel’s “Tornado Alley” series that will air next spring.

Executive Producer Kim Kantner says there are no restrictions on the type of video that can be submitted.

“Wherever the footage was caught, however it was caught, by whomever it was caught, in whatever shaky, dark, ugly or brilliant format, we need it,” Kantner said. “Because that happened and there’s no going back to get it.”

Kantner said a Weather Channel crew will come to the area in late September to interview some of the people who shot footage, those who captured on the video and survivors of the storms, among others.

The 2012 tornado outbreak killed dozens of people in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Alabama and caused widespread destruction.

The video and any comments and questions can be sent to tornadofootage@gmail.com
