Weakley Co. Receives $1M USDA Economic Development Loan

A northwestern Tennessee county is among 68 rural communities receiving USDA funding for economic development. The Weakley County Municipal Electric System will receive a loan of one-million dollars to renovate the Adult Learning Center. 

The center will be used as a satellite campus for Jackson State Community College. The effort is estimated to create 30 jobs.

The USDA Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant Program awarded more than $39 million dollars in loans and grants in 26 states.

The award coincides with National Small Business Week.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
