UT Martin’s newly appointed chancellor, Dr. Keith Carver is canvassing the region as part of the “Cruisin’ With Carver” tour, which will conclude at the end of February.
Carver says he’s visited with students, faculty, donors, and community officials and is focused on the university’s impact on the region.
“We want to be a partner with our state officials, our regional officials, but also our school districts, our hospitals, and we want to engage and wherever we have resources whether that be intellect or people power, we want to collaborate with people,” says Carver.
Carver says community engagement plays a significant role in student success.
"Having Martin at the table when there are issues to be discussed, whether it's an education issue, healthcare issue, cultural issue, economic development issue, Martin wants to be part of the solution."
Carver previously served as executive assistant to University of Tennessee President Joe DiPietro and was recommended as the new chancellor after Tom Rakes stepped down last year.
