US Capitol Christmas Tree to Stop in Paducah Next Month

Paducah officials say the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will be in western Kentucky next month.

The tree will be in Paducah as it travels from the Payette National Forest in Idaho to the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington.

The Paducah Convention and Visitors Bureau says people can sign a banner from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 22 in Noble Park. The banner will be displayed in Washington.

This year's 80-foot Engelmann spruce will be cut on Nov. 2 near McCall, Idaho.

The Capitol tree has been provided for almost 50 years by the U.S. Forest Service. Paducah's proximity to two U.S. Forest Service units — the Shawnee National Forest and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area — gave the city the chance to host the tree.
