UPDATED: McCracken County Man Arrested for WKCTC Bomb Threat

Paducah Police arrested a McCracken County man after Tuesday morning’s bomb threat at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.  

Harry D. Thurby Jr., 57, has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.  

Police were called to the Anderson Techinical Building around 9:41AM Tuesday after witnesses overhead Thurby threaten to blow up the school.  

Officers located Thurby in the building wearing black military-type fatigues with gloves sticking out of his pockets. When ordered to put his hands up, Thurby reached into his pockets and began throwing bandanas at the officers.

Thurby was then taken into custody and the building was evacuated while the premises were searched, but no explosives were found.  An all clear was given shortly before 2 PM.  

Thurby was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.  Authorities are currently serving a search warrant at his home.

Thurby was not enrolled in WKCTC but was attending an adult education workshop at the school.  

1:57 PM WKCTC has issued an all-clear on the bomb threat. The Anderson Technical Building is now open. 

11:09 AM One building at Paducah’s West Kentucky Community and Technical College was evacuated this morning after receiving a bomb threat.  

The Anderson Technical Building was evacuated just before 10 AM and remains closed until at least 1 PM while Paducah Police investigate.  

The building houses student services offices for the college.  

The rest of the campus remains open.  

10:38 AM Paducah's West Kentucky Community and Technical College is reporting a bomb threat on campus.  The Anderson Technical Building has been evacuated as a result.  

The system's notification program issued an alert just before 10 AM. 

The school is working with law enforcement to handle the situation.
