Update: Clarksville Police Lieutenant Steve Warren said in an email that the Tennessee Department of Transportation is delaying repairs of a depression on I-24 caused by a sinkhole until after the rain comes through Monday afternoon.

A portion of the road is closed at mile marker 9 in Montgomery County, Tennessee. Warren said two lanes are open at this time and only the third 'truck' lane is closed. He said there is little to no back-up of traffic.

Earlier:

Traffic is backed up along a portion of Interstate 24 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, due to a sinkhole.

Clarksville Police say one lane of traffic is currently shut down due to a depression in a portion of the road near Mile Marker 9.

Police say all three lanes will be closed and all eastbound traffic will be stopped as heavy repair equipment arrives.

There's no estimate on how long the repairs will take or how long the roads will be closed. Drivers are urged to find alternate routes and to avoid the area.
