UPDATE: Mayfield Votes to Allow Alcohol Sales in City

UPDATE: 7:00 p.m.

Mayfield residents voted Tuesday to allow alcohol sales within city limits. The "yes" votes numbered 1,356, while 968 city voters cast "no" votes, according to Graves County Clerk Barry Kennemore. That's a 58-42 percent margin.

The referendum generated a 37.5 percent voter turnout among Mayfield's nearly 6,200 registered voters.

Mayfield residents are voting Tuesday on whether or not to allow alcohol sales within city limits.

Nearly 6,200 registered voters are allowed to participate in the referendum. Graves County voters rejected a similar, county-wide measure in January by a 54-46 margin.

Graves County Clerk Barry Kennemore says turnout thus far has been steady.
