(Update) Martin Police Charge Man in Shooting Incident Near University

Update:  Martin Police report 21-year-old Tommy D. Fuller of Martin allegedly fired a weapon at several individuals at apartments on Hannings Lane early Tuesday afternoon. 

Fuller then left the area in a vehicle on Mt. Pelia Road. Officers located Fuller and took him into custody. Multiple weapons were found in his vehicle. No injuries have been reported. The incident is under investigation. Fuller has been charged with felony reckless endangerment, theft of property and unlawful possession of a weapon in commission of a felony. He will be held at the Weakley County Detention Center.

Police also identified a second vehicle occupied by three individuals involved in the altercation. No charges have been filed against these individuals. 

Earlier:

University of Tennessee at Martin was under lockdown briefly this afternoon until further notice after shots were fired near campus. UTM Public Safety said the lockdown has been released.

Martin Police said three males believed to be students had an altercation on campus that spilled onto the city street. It’s unclear if they were shooting at each other or in the air. They are being detained with no arrests made at this time. No injuries were reported.

The Office of Housing on Facebook Public Safety said shots were fired on Mount Pelia Road.
