Update: The bridge has reopened.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed US 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge due to icing.
According to KYTC Public Information Officer Keith Todd, the bridge will remain closed until temperatures rise above the freezing mark for several hours to allow the ice to melt.
Todd says emergency dispatch received a call Sunday night about a crash caused by icy conditions on the bridge deck.
KYTC officials say motorists should self-detour via the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis.
