Upcoming Murray Industrial Space Looks to Draw Manufacturing Business

The Murray-Calloway Economic Development Corporation looks to attract manufacturing business with plans for a new industrial facility.

The roughly 60,000 square foot spec buildingwill be located in the Murray-West Industrial Park.

MCEDC President Mark Manning says the city currently doesn’t have any pre-existing office space, creating a competitive disadvantage.

“It’s pretty rare for companies to simply go out and look at dirt and say ‘Hey yeah, this is wonderful dirt,’ and go in and buy the property and build," Manning said.

Manning says specifically, the facility is targeting light to medium manufacturing operations like metal fabrication and plastics.

The bidding process is underway and should wrap up within the next six to eight weeks.

Manning says he’s optimistic to start construction this spring and finish the facility early next year.
