Underwriter Spotlight: Milkweed Health & Harmony Emporium

Milkweed Health & Harmony Emporium

Well, it's official. We're feeling the need for spring. And Milkweed Health & Harmony Emporium in Hopkinsville seems like a perfect place to find that after-rain rejuvenation and freshness we're looking for.

Owner Julie-Anna Carlisle opened the new shop just this past December, with a mission to enhance the health, well-being and connectedness of her customers. The store features many hand-made and sustainable products, with soaps, lip balms, body scrubs, essential oils, incense herbs, loose teas and more. Milkweed also seeks to encourage harmony, spiritual enhancement and cultural awareness with religious items, ethnic musical instruments and regional artworks.

And if it seems more like a cultural gathering place than just a shop, that's just what Julie-Anna is hoping for. At their Grand Opening celebration Saturday, March 12, there will be presentations on Women's History in Hopkinsville, The Versatility of your Kitchen, Healing Techniques and Celebrating Dreams & Visions through Music & Dance. Julie-Anna says, "when people come in, I want them to feel peaceful and happy and at ease."

As to why they chose to underwrite, Julie-Anna says "We love WKMS. It's the only station we listen to. We appreciate the educational aspects that WKMS puts out there: whether environmental, culinary, political or cultural. It's the most wonderful radio station ever. People who care about WKMS and what it represents are probably the type of people that will care about what we're trying to do here."

Milkweed Health & Harmony Emporium is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 to 7 at 202 E 9th St in Downtown Hopkinsville. Visit anytime or find out more on their Facebook page.

Asia Burnett is WKMS Station Manager.
