U. S. Court Holds Session at Fort Campbell

By Angela Hatton

Fort Campbell, KY – The United State Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces will hold court at Fort Campbell next week. An Air Force staff sergeant is appealing his marijuana and cocaine convictions. Staff Sergeant James Cowgill was sentenced to two months confinement, a reduction in pay, and a bad conduct discharge. However, Cowgill's appeal alleges the military judge improperly denied a motion to suppress all evidence seized from the sergeant's house. Armed Forces appeals are normally held in Washington, D. C., but the hearing at Fort Campbell is part of an outreach program to educate the public on the military's legal process. The Wednesday hearing is open to the public.
