Trigg County Loses Long-Time Public Servant Kenneth Butts

Trigg County Sheriff's Office, Facebook

Trigg County lost a long-time public servant this week. Colonel Kenneth Butts died Tuesday at the age of 68 in Paducah.

He served for 36 years as a Cadiz police man and as Trigg County’s deputy sheriff and most recently as a court security officer. Sheriff Ray Burnam said he always wanted to be like Butts.

“He was the kind of guy that you really did want to be like--the way he treated people, the way the people looked and him and respected him. He never did it with fear and intimidation. He did it because he cared, but people knew that he was firm and meant business as well,” said Burnam. “He was my mentor and the best all-around law enforcement I’ve ever worked with.”

Butts received a Purple Heart from the Kentucky Sheriff's Association for injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cadiz Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 65, Cadiz, KY 42211.
