TN Shots at Feds Falling Like Flies

Tennessee lawmakers came into the legislative session fired up about rejecting new federal gun laws. Even symbolic shots are failing to get support.

Several bills are almost identical and – one way or another – aim to prevent the enforcement of federal firearms regulations, such as new limits on high capacity magazines. After the state’s Attorney General opined that such bills are unconstitutional, one lawmaker watered down his to the point of having no practical effect. Still, it failed in a subcommittee with members like Republican Vance Dennis of Savannah.

“I don’t know why we’d put this into the code if it doesn’t do anything,” he said.

Another bill lacked the support to even be discussed. Others were pulled for the year by their sponsors.
