A Tennessee man faces arson charges after torching a Paducah hotel room.

Close to midnight last night, Paducah Police responded to a disturbance call at the Thrifty Inn Hotel on Hinkleville Road near Interstate 24 and found smoke and flames inside one of the rooms.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and the hotel was evacuated.

Two officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

The room’s occupant, Michael Rhodes, 23, of Sardis, Tennessee, was located at the rear of the hotel.  He admitted to drinking and intentionally starting a fire in a trash can in the hotel room.

Rhodes is charged with first-degree arson and is lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
