Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam has named Will Cromer as the new chief of staff for the Deputy Director of TennCare, the state's expanded Medicaid program.

Cromer has been Haslam's policy director since he took office in 2011, where he has spearheaded the governor's strategic initiatives, developed legislation and assisted with developing Tennessee's annual spending plan.

“Will is incredibly smart and thoughtful, and he has been at the heart of every major policy decision and initiative we’ve launched in our office," said Haslam. "I’m excited to see him apply his knowledge and experience in helping manage this $11 billion agency.”

Cromer began working for Haslam during the 2010 gubernatorial campaign, in which he helped develop the candidate's platform, prepared him for debates and assisted in strategic messaging.

The $10.5 billion TennCare program covers 1.5 million people, or about one in five Tennesseans.

A Nashville native, Cromer is an honors program graduate of Belmont University, where he served as student body president.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
