Fort Campbell

The U.S. Department of Defense has identified three soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell who were fatally shot on Saturday in Afghanistan.

The soldiers were supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in the Nangarhar Province. A statement on Monday identifies the soldiers killed as 25-year old Sergeant Eric Houck of Baltimore, Maryland; 29-year-old Sergeant William Bays, of Barstow, California; and 22-year-old Corporal Dillon Baldridge of Youngsville, North Carolina. Governor Matt Bevin's office said on Monday that he plans to order flags lowered to half-staff in their honor on the day of interment.

The shooting is under investigation.
