Three Central Kentucky FFA Members to Receive Highest Honor This Weekend at National Convention

Many of central Kentucky's Future Farmers of America are participating this week in the group's 87th national convention in Louisville.  Some 60,000 FFA members from the around the U.S. are expected for the four-day event. Madison Southern High School FFA Instructor Wes Williams says attendees will have an opportunity to see the latest agriculture equipment.  "All the major agriculture companies come in and there are all kinds of agriculture equipment, new and innovative. And it gives a lot of our students the opportunity to come and see stuff like that that they otherwise wouldn't see," said Williams.

Williams says two FFA students from the Berea area school will be recognized Saturday morning for earning the organization's American Degree.   "It's the highest degree that the FFA gives that the students have excelled in leadership.  They have experience in agriculture and that they have earned money during five or six years while they've been in FFA," added Williams.

Williams says the organization is not only about preparing students for agriculture jobs.  Wilson says the FFA also focuses on personal growth and leadership training. ?
