Temporary Closures at LBL Including Turkey Bay OHV Area

From Press Release: Land Between The Lakes (LBL) received excessive rainfall throughout the day Saturday leading to extremely saturated soil conditions that caused the temporary closure of Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area, as of April 29th, until further notice. Turkey Bay management will re-evaluate trail conditions as the weather improves.

Visitors to Turkey Bay are strongly encouraged to “Call Before You Haul” to check current trail conditions at 270-924-2000, press 1, then press 1 again, or visit us on the web at www.lbl.org and click on Alerts & Notices, then Trails Update.

The rainfall also caused lake levels to rise well above summer pool which has created some additional flooding closures including the following areas at LBL: Fenton Boat Ramp, Bards Lake Boat Ramp, portions of Cravens Bay Campground, and Davenport Bay Bridge on FS Rd 126. If lake levels continue to rise, additional areas may be affected. Visitors are strongly encouraged to obey all closures. Barricades will be in place; however, caution is advised when traveling the roads throughout LBL following heavy rainfall.

Additional LBL information can be found on the website or by calling 1-800-LBL-7077 or 270-924-2000. “We have recently updated our automated telephone system,” stated Denise Schmittou, LBL’s Public Affairs Specialist. “Callers should listen closely, as several new options are now available.” You may also follow LBL on Twitter @LBLScreechOwl or @LandBtwnLakes.
