The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released a study of crimes on school campuses across the state.
More than 30,000 offenses on school campuses were reported by law enforcement agencies from 2012 to 2014.
“This study will hopefully assist law enforcement, school administrators, and government officials in planning their efforts in the fight against crime and continue to create an awareness that crime exists as a threat in our communities,” said TBI Director Mark Gwyn.
The TBI says the number decreased 14 percent during the study’s time frame.
The study also says females accounted for about 53 percent of the total victims, and that simple assault was the most frequently reported offense.
