On-air challenge: Today I've brought a game of categories based on the word OSCAR. For each category I give, name something in it starting with each of the letters O-S-C-A-R. For example, if the category were "U.S. States," you might say Ohio, South Dakota, Colorado, Alabama, and Rhode Island. Any answer that works is OK, and you can give the answers in any order.
1. Things Seen in a Kitchen (other than food)
2. Ways to Say "Yes"
3. Islands
4. Parts of a Newspaper
Last week's challenge: Name a place in the United States that contains a W. Drop the W, and you can rearrange the remaining letters to name two types of mammals, each in the plural form. What place is it, and what are the mammals?
Answer: New Mexico: Oxen and mice
Winner: Betsy McIver Cho of Tuluca Lake, Calif.
Next week's challenge: This week's challenge comes from listener Peter Collins of Ann Arbor, Mich. Name a famous singer — first and last names. Change the last three letters of each name to an E and you'll name a well-known landmark. What is it?
If you know the answer to next week's challenge, submit it here. Listeners who submit correct answers win a chance to play the on-air puzzle. Important: Include a phone number where we can reach you Thursday, March 8 at 3 p.m. ET.
