Frankfort, KY – Kentucky House Speaker Greg Stumbo has sent a letter to Governor Steve Beshear asking him not to consider furloughs for state employees in his upcoming budget proposal. Stumbo believes the practice is unfair to workers and says the House has not been receptive to the idea. According to Stumbo, furloughs result in reduced services and morale which outweigh any savings. Beshear is expected to present his budget to the legislature in mid-January.
