Officials with the Kentucky Court Appointed Special Advocates organization are seeking new volunteers to help abused and neglected children find safe permanent homes.
CASA representatives say 21,000 vulnerable children statewide could benefit from court appointed advocates each year as they seek a permanent solution, navigating the juvenile court system.
Currently, there are 831 court appointed special advocates serving 2,831 children. After extensive training, juvenile court appointed CASA volunteers are able to speak on behalf of the children they represent and then submit comprehensive, objective reports to juvenile court.
Officials with the Court Appointed Special Advocates program admit finding volunteers to help more than 20,000 children will take time.
