With Kentucky primary elections less than a month away, some local races are entering the final stretch because they will be decided in May, not November.

In Benton, only three Democrats are running for mayor – incumbent Steve Cary, Rita Dotson and Randal Scott.

In Christian County, only Democrats Mike Kem and Phillip Brooks are running for county clerk. The same goes for Graves County’s clerk race with Barry Kennemore squaring off against Tammy Jo Nesler.

Meanwhile, the race for Calloway County Jailer is made up of  no less than four Democrats vying for the position - Michael Holt, Eddie Dillon, Kenneth Claud and Rodney Hill. Phil Hazle will not seek a fifth term in the office.

Primary polls will open May 20.?
