Slight Uptick in Kentucky Preliminary Unemployment Rate

istockPhoto

The Kentucky preliminary unemployment rate saw a slight increase of .1% in June.

The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training says the rate is now 5.1%.

University of Kentucky Center for Business and Economic Research Director Chris Bollinger said in a release that Kentucky has experienced steady employment growth since 2010, but that growth seems to have slowed down recently.

The trade, transportation and utilities sector saw the largest job gains. The government sector saw the greatest decline.

As of May, the unemployment rate in west Kentucky is 5.5%.

These and more statistics are available at the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics website.
