Paducah officials are collecting public input on plans for the aging city hall building.
Monday night, the City Hall Schematic Design Advisory Board met with contractor RATIO Architects to present their ideas. The Paducah City Commission brought on the firm in October with a $1.6 million blueprinting deal.
There are two options: renovating the existing facility or building a new city hall from scratch.
RATIO Vice President Rob Proctor says work is only about 15 percent done, but those in attendance were given comment cards to offer their feedback on both ideas.
“We’ll actually now be able to provide a reflection to the commission of what we were hearing from the community tonight,” Proctor said. “So we’ll help be a bridge between the citizens and the commission.”
Next month, the firm along with the schematic advisory group will present that feedback along with their plans to the Paducah Board of Commissioners.
Proctor says preliminary cost estimates for both options are in the ballpark of $18 million, and that the main goal is to provide a modern space for Paducah officials over the next 50 years.
