A portion of KY 3186 in the Gracey community in Christian County is closed due to the development of a sinkhole.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet say the road, also known as Tobacco Road, is closed between mile markers zero and one. Motorists should detour via side streets until repairs are completed. Gracey is located west of Hopkinsville.
According to the USGS, sinkholes can be caused by groundwater collecting below the surface with no external drainage and rocks (like limestone and carbonate) that naturally dissolve in water.
