Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon is announcing her political plans in a series of news conferences around the state.
In a Facebook post, the Carbondale Democrat says she'll release "very exciting news" about her campaign on Wednesday. She hasn't said what position she might seek, but has touted her background as a former county prosecutor and law professor.
Simon's campaign manager has said she's been interested in comptroller, a position now held by Republican Judy Baar Topinka.
Simon is set to kick off her tour Wednesday in Chicago before visiting Springfield and Carbondale.
