Severe Weather Possible Across Region Tonight

NWS Paducah/Facebook

The National Weather Service is warning of possible severe weather across the region Thursday afternoon and evening.

NWS meteorologist Rick Shanklin says Thursday afternoon’s thunderstorms have the potential to produce tornadoes.

“However it looks like the greater potential for any tornadic activity would be to our north, across central, northern Illinois, in that region,” Shanklin said. “But certainly we cannot rule that out right here in our region as well.”

The region is not currently under any watches or warnings. Shanklin says to expect a half inch to an inch of rain in western Kentucky Thursday, with large hail and damaging winds projected to be gusting at nearly 30 miles per hour.
