Tim Longmeyer, a former state official who pled guilty to taking bribes, has requested a delay on his sentencing hearing scheduled for August 18.
The prosecutor assigned to the case, Asst. U.S. Attorney Andrew Boone, has also requested a delay, citing a scheduling conflict.
In a court motion, Longmeyer’s attorney said that “Additional time is also needed for Mr. Longmeyer to be prepared for his sentencing hearing.”
The motion asks for the hearing to be rescheduled to sometime in mid-September.
Longmeyer was the secretary of the Personnel Cabinet under former Gov. Steve Beshear’s administration and served as a deputy in Attorney General Andy Beshear’s office. He resigned from his position under the younger Beshear in March, days before being charged with bribery.
At an April court hearing, Longmeyer pled guilty to receiving about $200,000 in kickbacks from a consulting firm in exchange for funneling state business toward the company.
At least $6,000 of the bribes went to state Democratic political campaigns.
Longmeyer is facing up to 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. He is currently out on bond.
