Senate OKs Tuition Plan for Early KY Graduates

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Some academically gifted teens who graduate from high school a year early could get at least a portion of their college tuition paid by the state under a measure that cleared the Senate on Tuesday. The Senate approved the measure 38-0. It now goes to the House for consideration. The legislation would essentially shift state education funding that would have gone to the high schools of participating students to public or private colleges in which the students enroll. The measure limits the tuition coverage to only the first year of college.
